Last week I posted about movers and shaker in education that I follow on Twitter. This week I am expanding to hashtags that are helpful to check in on from time to time. These hashtags provide me with pedagogical tools that increase my effectiveness as a science teacher and spark new ideas of how to implement student-centered learning in my future classroom.

HASHTAGS:
1. #scienceed - This hashtag is a classic for science teachers. It is a highly used tag for anything related to science teaching. Teachers may share experiences they had with their classes or provide resources that they use for lessons.
2. #STEM - This hashtag is usually placed on tweets of articles that encourage pedagogical practices related with STEM as well as providing ideas for using STEM ideas in the classroom.

3. #ScienceTeacher - Similar to #scienceed, this hashtag contains resources and lesson ideas for science teachers as well as infographics, links to online tools, and more.
4. #EnviroEd - This hashtag is a great resource for an ecology unit in a biology classroom or for CCP or AP Environmental Science. There are ideas as well as current events that could be used to teach concepts in the classroom.
5. #apbio - This hashtag has lesson ideas and provides a place for teachers to post pictures of activities they are doing with their AP classes. These are especially helpful when a teacher wants to dig a little deeper into the material with the students.
These are just a few of the hashtags that I like to look at for ideas. These are great places to go to increase in our knowledge of content, pedagogy, and student engagement. Through learning more we can better ourselves which, will consequently help our students.
